Pick a Petal Sad Face

I love using the Pick a Petal stamp set in creative ways. This is just one that I found and decided to put my own touch to it! I thought this was sure to brighten someone's day.

The cardstock base is Pacific Point and layered with Whisper White and River Rock. I used the Flannel large background stamp in River Rock on the front piece of River Rock. Flannel always makes us feel better, right? I accented the front sad face with the corner punches.

For the face, I used the circles for eyes and the spotted petal for the nose. I used the outline petal for the frown. I used a marker to only color half the petal and stamped onto my Whisper White. You could also ink-up the entire stamp, put down a piece of scrap paper to cover the bottom of the petal, and stamp the whole image onto the Whisper White and scrap paper. Actually, I'd probably recommend this way more than the way I did it. If you don't have your stamp absolutely clean, the bottom part of the petal still shows up on your stamped image.

Birthday with a Hand-Made Brad

This is a good, easy birthday card for either girls or boys. It's fairly easy and shows how you can "make your own brad" to accentuate just about any project.

This card is made from Confetti White, Basic Black, and Riding Hood Red cardstock. The center image is stamped on Confetti White with Basic Black ink. I stamped the image onto Confetti White again with Riding Hood Red. Using a 1/2" circle punch, I cut out the very center of the Riding Hood Red image. Using a glue dot, I adhered this small circle to the middle of a "make your own brad." I had to use a paper piercer to punch through the center image and push the brad through.

This is a simple card with just a little "pop" in the middle!

Punched Train

I saved the best one for last in this series...my punched train. In my opinion, this is the punched card of all punched cards. I'm biased, but I think it's adorable!

I started with a Whisper White cardstock base and layered Bashful Blue on top for the background. To make the train tracks, I used a piece of Basic Black and spiral punched down both sides.

For the engine, I used a keytag punch on Basic Black. For the window, I used a 3/4" square punch and layered a 1/4" square punch of Bashful Blue on top. For the top of the smokestack, I used the top of a large tag punch.

For my box cars, I used a 1 1/4" square as the base in Only Orange or Real Red. I layered a 3/4" square (in alternating color) and then a 1/2" circle on top of that. The Whisper White "cargo" in each car is the end of the tab punch.

I joined all the cars together with a little piece of Basic Black. The wheels are made from 1/2" circles in silver.

Punched Teacup

Here is another creation in my punch art series. My husband and I own a coffee shop and I hate coffee. So, I end up drinking quite a bit of tea. This one is for all you fellow tea-drinkers!

The base of this card is Apricot Appeal. I then layered it with Bashful Blue and Whisper White. I stamped the "friendship" sentiment on the front and sponged a bit of Bashful Blue on the edges.

To create my teacup, I used my tag punch on some patterned scrapbooking paper. For the saucer, I punched a medium sized oval and sponged it as well. Then, for the inside of the saucer, I punched a small oval out of Bashful Blue, but did not sponge it, so the 2 ovals contrast just a little. I adhered the small one on top of the medium-sized sponged one to finish the saucer.

For the handle I punched a medium-sized oval out of Bashful Blue and then used the small oval punch to cut out the middle.

I finished my teacup by adding a small flower and brad as embellishment in the middle.

Punched Popsicles

Since we have a heat advisory today, I figured it would be a good day to share my Punched Popsicles.

To create the card front, I took a piece of Whisper White and sponged some Real Red and Close to Cocoa onto the corners. I also stamped the "Celebrate" sentiment across the front.

To make the popsicle, I tag punched a piece of Real Red cardstock. I used my scallop circle punch to "take a bite" out of the popsicle. I created the stem using Close to Cocoa with a word window punch. After adhering to the piece of Whisper White, I used my white gel pen to draw a little shading on the popsicle and stem.

Once I had the card front completed, I mounted onto a piece of Close to Cocoa and the Real Red card base. I decided I wasn't done with this one...

I created two more popsicles, one Only Orange and one Elegant Eggplant, as decoration for the inside of the card using the same technique as above.

Punched Cookies

Here is another one of my punch art creations! This one is for all you fellow chocoholics!

I used a Basic Black cardstock base and layered it with Whisper White. Before adhering the top Close to Cocoa layer, I sponged Close to Cocoa ink on the corners to give it a bit of dimension. I also stamped the friendship sentiment across the front with Basic Black Classic Ink.

For the large plate of cookies, I created the Basic Black plate with a large circle punch. I fancy Whisper White plate lines is from a scallop punch. I also poked a hole through each scallop to add some fine detail. The Close to Cocoa cookies are made from a small circle punch. I used the fine-tip end of my Chocolate Chip marker to dot on the chocolate chips.

For the smaller plate, I punched a circle out of Basic Black and created the cookie the same way as listed above. I cut off part of one edge to show that some guilty party had already eaten part of the cookie. For the napkin, I scallop punched a piece of Whisper White. I used my Baroque Motifs stamp set to stamp a swirl onto the scallop circle with Close to Cocoa. You could so this with any set that has a bit of a swirl to it. Then, I simply cut out two scallops to create a fancy napkin and adhered it to the plate.

Now I need some REAL cookies & milk!

Punched Apples

This is another one of my cards created mainly with punched images rather than stamps. School will be here before you know it, so I thought some apples were in order for our teachers!

For this card, I used Real Red cardstock as the base and then rolled Rough Texture in Real Red onto a piece of Very Vanilla to create the background. Then I adhered a piece of Basic Black across the middle to set off the punched apples.

In order to create the apples, I used the Tag Punch and punched 3 Very Vanilla tags and just left them unfolded. Then I also punched 1 tag out of Garden Green and 2 out of Real Red. I cut the ends off and adhered to the ends of the Very Vanilla to create the top and bottom rinds. In Basic Black, I stamped a small flower in the center of the apples to look like seeds. As a final touch, I cut three small strips out of Chocolate Chip and adhered to the top for the stems.

Scalloped Purple Coneflowers

I love making card embellishments using my punches. It's a neat way to be creative with supplies that I already have. I can see many of these items being used for scrapbooking as well as cardmaking. This card could be used for almost any occasion.

This was a quick and easy way to introduce some of my friends to using punches in creative ways. Using a scallop punch, I created a Perfect Plum and Almost Amethyst scallop. In order to create the flower, I cut the scallop circle in half and then cut off one additional petal. I cut the petals a little deeper than what the scallop punch did, as well as curled the petals so they stand up off the card. I used small pieces of Close to Cocoa for the flower centers. They look like my purple coneflowers in my garden!

Another Scrapbooking Kit Card

This is another one of my cards made from the same scrapbooking kit as my previous two posts.

I used River Rock for the base and stamped the entire front with the Sanded large background stamp with River Rock Classic Ink. Then I adhered a strip of Confetti White on the bottom of the front, stamped with the "You're one of the good ones" from the Smarty Pants stamp set in Chocolate Chip Classic Ink. I used a sticker from the scrapbooking kit as a border between the 2 colors on the front.

I scallop punched Ruby Red and then added another sticker from the scrapbooking kit. I tied a small piece of twine through a coordinating button and adhered with a mini glue dot. It was easiest to adhere this entire piece together first and then use several glue dots to adhere the entire piece to the front of the card.

Birthday Card from Scrapbooking Kit

I just love making a whole stack of cards using a scrapbooking kit. Sometimes I have a hard time picking colors for my cards. I often use the same few favorites on my creations. The scrapbooking kits already have colors picked out and coordinating papers, stickers, and other embellishments. It's already selected for me! And often, it's not colors towards which I lean. This forces me to be creative and think outside my own little box, without having to put a lot of brain power behind it all! YAY!

This is another card that I made from the same scrapbooking kit as my previously uploaded card.

The base of the card is Confetti White cardstock. I layered it with Chocolate Chip and River Rock cardstock. I punched squares and flowers out of the coordinating Chocolate Chip, Confetti White, and Ruby Red cardstock. I adhered the brads to the back of the small squares and then used mini glue dots to add this assembled piece to the card. I found that if I tried to put the brad through more than that one layer, it made the card bulky and it would not aly down or go in the envelope very neatly.

I cut down the long sticker of squares to fit the piece of River Rock cardstock. I liked how these little squares copied the look of the squares underneath the punched flowers. Looks like tile, doesn't it?

To finish the card, I stamped the "Happy Birthday" with Chocolate Chip ink on the bottom right. I can see this card being re-made for almost every occasion using a different sentiment. I also this this is a good card for both males and females.

I actually made this card some time ago, but haven't uploaded it til now. It's always fun to take a scrapbooking kit and use the embellishments to make a cute set of matching cards. This is one of the set.

I stamped the Ruby Red card base with the Itty Bitty Backgrounds stamp using Versa Mark ink. I know that it's difficult to see in this picture, but I roughed up the edges of the Chocolate Chip strip with the rough edge tool. I punched each flower (Ruby Red, Confetti White, River Rock) twice in order to layer it before adhering with a brad to the Chocolate Chip cardstock. The To You From Me sentiment is from the scrapbooking kit.

Going Camping

Since it's Father's Day weekend, I thought I'd post my favorite bear. This card has a great camping theme and is fairly simple to put together if you need a card in a hurry for a kid or family going away to camp.

I used Under the Stars stamp set for this entire card. I used Very Vanilla cardstock as the base and stamped the sleeping bag image in Chocolate Chip and Creamy Caramel classic ink. I stamped the bug spray the same way onto Creamy Caramel in the same way and mounted it onto the Chocolate Chip cardstock. I stamped the bear onto Creamy Caramel using Chocolate Chip classic ink and mounted it onto Chocolate Chip. I stamped "have a" and "time" onto Very Vanilla cardstock and punched out with the word window punch. I rubbed the edges of think pad in order to make them stick out a little more on the card.

Now, if I just had a campfire and some s'mores.......

One Last Garden Whimsy

I had to post one last variation on my Garden Whimsy Card. This one has a whole different color scheme from the previous ones. I wanted to make a card with a more "earthy" feel using my Whimsy set.

I used Mellow Moss for the card base. With my Whimsy Stampin' Around Jumbo Roller and Always Artichoke Jumbo Roller ink, I rolled across the bottom of the card to make a nice accent. I used a small strip of Always Artichoke across the top of the Whimsy Roll to create a ribbon effect, even thought I had no Artichoke ribbon. Again, this is another way to use scraps in a creative way and save a little money at the same time!

I stamped the butterfly image on Whisper White using Pumpkin Pie Classic Ink. Using heat & stick powder and a heat gun, I put some Dazzling Diamonds glitter on the butterfly for a nice "pop." I then mounted it on a piece of Pumpkin Pie cardstock and put a small piece of Chocolate Chip ribbon behind the image before mounting onto the card front. I stamped the sentiment with the Pumpkin Pie image as well.

Another Garden Whimsy Variation

I made this card using the same colors from the previous post. I just changed the sentiment. I love creating a border from small stamps and especially love the faux ribbon look by using a strip of my favorite coordinating cardstock. Now I'll never throw those scraps away!

Garden Whimsy Variations

I love the Garden Whimsy Stamp Set and have had fun making several card variations using it.

On the card above, I wanted to create a border, but didn't have the coordinating jumbo roller or ribbon that goes with the set. So, I used the small ladybug stamp to create a border and topped it off with a small stripe of Blue Bayou Cardstock, which looks like a ribbon. I stamped the butterfly and the swirl, using Purely Pomegranate. The card base is made with Soft Sky, and the faux ribbon is made of Blue Bayou Cardstock.

This is a card that I used to demo with beginning card-makers. It was fairly easy and quick and used several of the "In Colors" from that year. Gluing, mounting, and stamping were not hard for beginners and they left with a great little everyday card. I also liked how the swirl looks like the flight path of our cute little butterfly.

Bold Butterfly

Since we are getting even more snow, I thought it would be fitting to put up a card that reminds me of warmer weather. I wanted to make a card with my Garden Whimsy set, but I wanted to make it out of colors that I hadn't seen yet with this set--something a little more bold--and this is what I came up with!

I started with an Always Artichoke bard base and put a piece of Elegant Eggplant on top. I used an Eggplant cartridge in my jumbo roller to roll Whimsy across a piece of Very Vanilla CS and then mounted that onto a piece of Artichoke. I also stamped the butterfly image from Garden Whimsy in Eggplant onto Vanilla and mounted onto Artichoke as well.

Party Hearty with a Folded Frame

I wanted to try the Folded Frame tutorial on Splitcoaststampers.com, so here is my attempt! If you would like to see the tutorial to make your own, click here.

I began with a Handsome Hunter CS base for a square card. I used Prestwick DSP to make the Folded Frame for the front of the card. I used silver brads to secure the frame instead of the glue dots/dimensionals that the tutorials suggests using.

I stamped the Celebrate You on Whisper White CS using Brilliant Blue Classic Ink and punched out using the Scallop Circle Punch. To give the image a little "pop," I also stamped the image again using Handsome Hunter and punched out the very middle with a small circle punch. I adhered this green embellishment onto the blue scalloped image. Using Stampin' Dimensionals, I adhered this scalloped image to the front of the card, thus making it stand up off the front.

Enjoy Every Moment

I saw something similar to this on a blog a long time ago and got the creative urge to make something similar. I liked the look of an oversized square card-nice change from what I normally end up making. I also normally make cards with nice bold colors, so this again was a little different than my usual, but I'm super pleased with my results.

I began with a 5x5 card front in Certainly Celery CS. I rolled the Daisy Dash jumbo roller over Bashful Blue with Whisper White Ink. (I had to make the Whisper White Ink Cartridge because you couldn't buy one in white at the time.) I used my 1 1/4" square punch and punched out 8 squares of the Daisy Dash CS. I then punched out 8 Whisper White CS squares using the 1 3/8" square punch. After mounting those 8 Daisy Dash squares onto the Whisper White (some up and down, some sideways), I adhered to the Certainly Celery CS base.

I used Bashful Blue Classic ink to stamp the "enjoy" sentiment onto a square piece of Whisper White CS and then adhered that to a slightly larger piece of certainly celery. I thought this card looked a little plain and so I used a little 2-way glue to stamp the small flower in the middle of the "o" and then sprinkled on some Dazzling Diamonds. I filled in the center with a silver brad and then adhered this large piece to the Certainly Celery base.

I think if I get the chance, I'd like to see what this card would look like using a clear plastic card base.

Everyday Card

I wanted to create a card to have on hand for everyday occasions that would be good for men or women. I always seem to be forgetting to make things in advance and thought I'd help myself out with this one!

I used Brilliant Blue CS for the card base. I used the embossing buddy on the piece of Bashful Blue CS and then Versa Marked the Baroque Motifs stamp onto the front. Using my heat gun, I set the white embossing powder on the Bashful Blue CS. I then mounted this onto a silver background accenting the silver brads. I punched the Brilliant Blue flowers and adhered with silver brads through the Bashful Blue and Silver layer. (I put the brads through both of these layers so you can't see the brad backs from the front. lays down much better!) Then adhere this all to the Brilliant Blue base. With only decoration and no sentiment on the front, I can just fill in the inside when needed!

Sock Monkey with His Balloons!

This is a card that I just love. It's certainly got its fair share of little pieces and not one for someone that hates to cut. However, I think the end product was well worth the sweat! This is one I'd definitely make more than one of while I was at it!

I used Chocolate Chip & Real Red CS for the base and made this card flip up to open instead of the norm. I stamped, with Basic Black ink, the image on several different colors of CS (Chocolate Chip & Creamy Caramel) and also on DSP (Bella Rose). After cutting out and gluing onto base, I have this cute little guy holding his precious balloons. I used the Scallop Border punch to create the bottom and stuck some string under his paw to the balloons. I also used my Real Red Marker to color in his mouth.

I'm biased but I think he's pretty cute! I did CASE this idea and I'm pleased with my changes! I'd love to see yours!

One Last Quilt

So I had to share one last quilt card with you. I wanted to do one using the same color scheme instead of odds and ends of scrapbooking paper that I like. It's another 3x3 card, using 1/4 inch scraps of Purely Pomegranate designer series paper. I chose to mount onto black and white CS in order to make the quilting "pop"! Another Quilt Card

Quilt Cards Use Scraps!

Quilt cards are a great way to use up those darlings little scraps of your favorite scrapbooking paper or cardstock. Maybe you have leftovers from a project. You love the colors but they are too small with which to do anything. I know I always have my favorite papers and I just HATE throwing away scraps because I just know I can do SOMETHING with them! Well, I've found that something!

It's hard to tell in the picture, but this is a 3"x3" card. If you have bigger scraps, your base square card can be bigger. This was my first time "quilting" so I wanted it to be small in case it turned out to be a small mess! I was pleasantly surprised how easy it is to "quilt"!! My Bella Rose DSP scraps on this card were cut into 1/4 inch wide strips. It doesn't take much to make a pretty design!

Use a ruler to find the center on a piece of base cardstock. I used Very Vanilla in this one. It will be covered up completely by your quilting, so the color doesn't really matter. I found it easiest to draw a large plus sign all the way from top to bottom on the Very Vanilla to find the center of the base piece. From there I could just easily match up the corners of my flower piece to make sure it was exactly center.

If you make your center piece diamond shaped, you need to draw a plus sign on your base piece. If you make your center piece square shaped, you need to draw a diagonal X in order to line up your corners of the center piece. This is the easiest way to make sure your center piece is exactly centered! Adhere your center piece and then glue matching stripes of paper around it, going one layer at a time.

I started at the top of the flower with the gingham looking piece. I lines up the corner of the scrap with the top corner of the diagonal and glued it down, making sure that the piece was glued snugly to the side of the center piece. From there I worked my way around the right repeating the step at each corner. Once the first "layer" of "quilting" was complete, I began a new layer with the very pale piece of scrap paper. Be sure to glue everything snugly together so your quilt doesn't have any holes.

I used 1/4" strips, but I think I'd use larger if I were making a larger card and not a mini. I matched my layers, but you wouldn't have to if you didn't have enough of one type of scrap paper.

Rolled Marble Pumpkin

Since it's about time for pumpkins, I thought I'd post this card. This card uses the Rolling Marble Technique to create easy, unique backgrounds for every card you make. To make this card, I took a piece of Very Vanilla Card Stock and used a glue dot to adhere it to the bottom of an empty stamp container a little bigger than the piece of CS. I then dropped a couple drops of Chocolate Chip ink from a re-inker into the corners of the stamp container, trying not to get it directly on the CS. I only used about 2 drops. If you use more, then ink runs more onto your CS than onto the marble and you get corners soaked with ink! Then, I dropped a couple glass marbles (yes, the kind that kids play with) into the ink and gently shook the inked-up marbles all over my Very Vanilla Card Stock. Once it was decorated as much as I liked, I removed the Very Vanilla CS from the container and adhered it to the Garden Green card base. It's fun to do several backgrounds at once to see how differently they come out. Then, you get a variety to choose from!

The pumpkin was fairly simple. I drew a pumpkin shape for the pattern and traced it onto Only Orange Card Stock. Once cut out, I then snipped the pumpkin into all those pieces and adhered it to the Very Vanilla Card Stock. This almost made me think of the natural creases in a pumpkin. If you're going to make a snipped pumpkin, you may want to create several so you can play with how many snips to make. Based on these to cards, I like fewer snips. It seemed like if I made more snips, the pumpkin began to lose its shape. I also created a stem out of a scrap piece of Garden Green CS.

I also created this card with an Only Orange CS base for variety.

Showin' Some Love

This card was one that I made a while ago, but didn't photograph and upload until now. This card was made with Riding Hood Red and Pirouette Pink CS and Riding Hood Red ink. I used the Priceless and Big Deal Alphabet, although you can re-create this card with any alphabet set and any heart (and really any word with 4 letters). I inked up the swirl from the Priceless set with the Riding Hood Red ink, but I stamped off once before stamping onto the pink. I wanted the swirls to be a background effect.

To give this card a little "pop," I dabbed a little two-way glue on part of the heart and sprinkled some Dazzling Diamonds Glitter on it.

Sept. Card Club

I'm doing something trendy for once! My Card Club ladies this month are going to make a really sweet card that has been talked about all over blogs and SplitCoastStampers. We are going to make a tri-shutter card like the one pictured above. While it looks super complicated, it's rather easy and fits inside a regular envelope! Card Club is on Thursday, Sept. 10th and Mon., Sept. 14th at 6pm at Java House. Cost to attend is $10 and includes all supplies--OR--place a $50 order that night and the class is FREE! Please RSVP at least 3 days prior to the Card Club you'd like to attend!

Wild About Animals!

This is such a cute card that could be used as a birthday card or child's birthday party or baby shower invitation. It would be a great to use as a Vacation Bible School invitation too.

Ingredients:
Cardstocks: Soft Sky, Brilliant Blue, Kraft, and Whisper White
Classic Inks: Summer Sun, Pumpkin Pie, Bordering Blue, Basic Black, Glorious Green
Wild About You Stamp Set, Chocolate Chip Marker, Coluzzle Cutting System

Directions:
Use Coluzzle to cut out circle from Kraft Cardstock. Cut in half to use as ship. Draw lines across it with the marker to make it look like wood. Adhere soft sky to white card base. Cut scallops in brilliant blue to make it look like ocean waves. Paste on top of Soft Sky. Stamp all animals in their appropriate colors on Whisper White and cut out. Line up where boat should be with your EYES first--take this advice from me--you'll never line it up right if you don't lay all this out first and then start gluing! Figure out where boat should be and then use your scissors to cut hole in brilliant blue. Put boat in this hole. It doesn't need to be perfect--it's water! Jagged is fine! Then put your animals in the boat. Happy Sailing!

Elegant Lady Dress Card

I can't say that this idea was thought up by me, but I took it and made it better, in my opinion! This is a great way to use those scraps from all of your favorite designer series scrapbooking papers. What a nice card to give to your girlfrinds!

Ingredients:
5 strips of your favorite designer series double-sided papers, Rose Red Cardstock, Very Vanilla Cardstock, Rose Red Classic Ink Pad, Time Well Spent Hostess Stamp set (or any other set with a heart in it that you like!)

Directions:
Fold 8 1/2 x 5 1/2" piece of Rose Red cardstock in two to make card base. Rub edges of 4 1/4 x 5 1/4" piece of Very Vanilla onto Rose Red ink pad. Use sponges if you want a more subtle look, do without sponges if you want a more dramatic effect. Adhere piece of Very Vanilla to front of card. Lay out and adhere strips of scrapbooking paper to card. Stamp heart from Time Well Spent stamp set on Rose Red Cardstock in Rose Red ink. Cut out and adhere to top of skirt on card front. Use scrap of your favorite coordinating color for waistband. In this sample, I used Chocolate Chip. You can also embellish waistband and flower on top with rhinestone brads, pearl brads, or dazzling diamonds glitter adhered with 2-way glue. Go crazy! If you so choose, you can also stamp a sentiment along the top or bottom, or leave blank to use as a card for any occasion!

Baby Tag Card

I originally saw this card in reds and pinks and it said LOVE for Valentine's Day. Of course I had to change it to make it my own! I think this card is so cute and playful because of all of its layers. I figured I had better post this one before all of the stamp sets in it are retired soon!!!
Ingredients: Elegant Eggplant Cardstock (CS), Certainly Celery CS, Whisper White CS, Almost Amethyst CS, Elegant Eggplant Classic Ink, Be Happy Stamp Set, Best Friends Alphabet, Sweet Sampler Stamp Set(or other set that has dotted background that you like), Large Tag Punch, 1 3/8 inch and 1 1/4 inch Circle Punches, Certainly Celery 1/4 inch grosgrain ribbon, stapler, glue stick.
Directions: Fold 8 1/2 x 5 1/2 piece of Elegant Eggplant in half to make card base. Stamp dotted background in Elegant Eggplant onto card base. Stamp four tags from Be Happy with Elegant Eggplant Ink onto Almost Amethyst CS. Cut out. Punch out two tags from Elegant Eggplant and adhere to larger tags. Using Elegant Eggplant ink, Stamp "B" "A" "B" and "Y" onto Whisper White and punch out with 1 1/4 inch circle punch. Layer onto four 1 3/8 inch Certainly Celery circles. Staple Certainly Celery ribbon onto top of all four tags. Adhere "B" "A" "B" "Y" tags to card.

Stained Glass Card

I call this card a "Stained Glass Card" because it reminds me of the windows at church. While this card looks complicated, it was not! Best of all, this card can be used for any occasion or made with any color family to fit your style! Tie a bow at the bottom for a more feminine-looking card or a knot for a more male-looking card. People wonder how this card can have continuous stamps across it. The secret is to stamp the black-based piece before adhering it to the card! Thanks to my upline, Deena, for sharing this card idea with me!

Ingredients: Kraft Cardstock (CS), Chocolate Chip CS, Basic Black CS, Very Vanilla CS, Black Brads, 5/8 inch chocolate chip grosgrain ribbon, Glue Stick, Mini Glue Dots, 1 1/4 inch Square Punch, 1/16 inch circle punch, Basic Black Classic Ink, Chocolate Chip Classic Ink, Baroque Motifs Stamp Set.

Directions: Fold 11 x 5 1/4 piece of Kraft CS in the middle, creating the card base. Adhere 4 1/4 x 4 1/4 Chocolate Chip Square to Kraft card base and set aside. Punch three Vanilla squares, three Chocolate Chip squares, and three Kraft squares with 1 1/4 inch punch. Arrange squares however you like on 4 x 4 inch piece of Basic Black CS. Using black ink, stamp large swirl from Baroque Motifs stamp set across black-based piece with squares. By stamping black, you cannot see the stamp on the black CS in between the squares--You can only see the image on the colored squares! You will probably have to stamp the swirl several times, overlapping previous stamps, in order to cover the whole piece. Then, using the small flower from the same stamp set, stamp chocolate chip flowers wherever you can find room! Using 1/16 circle punch, punch a hole in all four corners of the black-based piece and put in black brads. Put glue dots on the back of the brads and smear glue in the middle of the black-based piece and adhere to chocolate chip piece that is already on the card. Tie ribbon into knot and attach to card with glue dots.

Valentine's Day Treat Bag

We made this cute little treat bag at January's Card Club. This would be a nice V-Day present for kids' classmates or co-workers. It's a nice change from those children's Valentine's Day cards with Spongebob or Barbie on them! The white embossed image shows up so well on the Purely Pomegranate cardstock!

Cardstock: Purely Pomegranate, Whisper White
Ink: Purely Pomegranate, Versa Mark
Stamp Set: Sweet Sampler
Accessories: Small Cellophane Bag, Silver Brads, Purely Pomegranate Double-Stitched Ribbon, White Embossing Powder, Embossing Buddy, Heat Gun, Glue Dots, Small Hole Punch, and Glue Stick.
Fill with your favorite candy!

Stamp Purely Pomegranate Cardstock with dots stamp in the same color. Use the embossing buddy to take the static out of your small piece of Pomegranate Cardstock. Stamp Sweets onto it with Versa Mark. Pour white embossing powder over it and shake off excess. Use heat gun to "emboss" the image. Adhere to other card stock. Use small hole punch to make holes for two silver brads. Adhere bow to treat topper with glue dot.

Easy Valentine's Day Bookmark

This project is an easy one to do for Valentine's Day parties at school or work. I think this would be a perfectly easy project to do with a group of kids.

Cardstock: Real Red, Whisper White
Ink: Basic Black
Stamp Set: Happy Heart Day
Accessories: Glue Dots, Glue Stick, Real Red Marker, Pretty in Pink Marker, Tag Punch, Small Tag Punch, Jumbo Paperclip (I bought mine in a package of 15 at Wal-Mart for 97 cents in the office supply section).

Punch two tags with the larger tag punch out of Real Red CS. Use basic black to stamp image onto Whisper White CS. Turn smaller tag punch over so you can see what you are punching and punch out tag image. Use markers to color stamped image. Glue image to one of the Real Red tags. Use glue dots to adhere tags to each other with paperclip in the middle. Be sure to put end of paperclip with 2 loops at the bottom so it can be used as a bookmark! If you glue the wrong end, you will have a pretty paperclip that can't be used! Yes, I know from experience! :)

Marbled Valentine's Day Penguin

This card is simple, but very classy. I have it listed here as a Valentine's Day Card, but you could easily stamp any other sentiment on the inside.

Cardstock: Real Rose, Whisper White, Basic Black
Ink: Whisper White Craft Ink
Stamp Set: Wild About You
Accessories: White Grosgrain Ribbon, Heat Gun to set penguin image, and glue stick.
See directions below for marbled background.

This card uses the "marble" technique. Yes, you get to play with marbles! To achieve this background, you will need an empty plastic stamp set box, Basic Black cardstock, Whisper White Re-inker, a glue dot, and a marble or two. Put a glue dot on the back of a piece of Basic Black Cardstock. Put this piece of cardstock into plastic box (glue dot will help hold this in place for technique). Squeeze 2-3 drops of Whisper White ink into corner of box. Put marble(s) into box and shake to roll them into ink and across cardstock to create unique backgrounds for each card you make. Just pull the cardstock out of the box and adhere to card. Experimenting with more and less ink in the box will create different looks.

Easy Heart Day Card with Inexpensive Embellishment!

I love my Happy Heart Day Valentine's Day Card pictured below, but it is very time and supply consuming. So, I came up with this simplified card for new card-makers and those of us that need to make several in a hurry! This card is an example of a technique that I like to use. Most really cute cards have lots of expensive accessories on them, such as brads, eyelets, and ribbon. For those of us on a budget and those of us that don't have a lot of supplies, this card is easy to embellish without those items. I save all of my small scraps and use them in the place of ribbon. In this case, I used two small pieces of Creamy Caramel Cardstock behind the mouse image to make a splash of color without using lots of embellishments.

Cardstock: Chocolate Chip, Regal Rose, Whisper White, Creamy Caramel
Ink: Chocolate Chip
Stamp Set: Happy Heart Day
Accessories: Ticket Corner Punch and Glue Stick.

Stamp flower image onto Chocolate Chip Cardstock in the same color. Stamp Chocolate Chip mouse image onto Whisper White. Ticket corner punch the Whisper White piece. Adhere to card with small strips of Creamy Caramel behind it. These strips do the same thing as ribbon in a much less expensive way!

Happy Heart Day Card Recipe

If you were not able to attend my January Card Club, but still want to make the Valentine's Day Card pictured below, here is the recipe. Please keep in mind that I lovingly referred to this card as the "Card of 1,000 Pieces," but boy is it cute! It's certainly one I would just make a few of and give to the special people on my V-Day list! Thanks to zanynotcrazy.blogspot.com for the idea!
Cardstock: Chocolate Chip, Whisper White, Rose Red, Regal Rose
Stamp Set: Happy Heart Day
Ink: Basic Black
Accessories: Rose Red Double-Sided Designer Series Prints Paper, Scallop Punch, Ticket Corner Punch, 1 3/8" circle punch, 1 1/4" circle punch, chocolate chip taffeta ribbon, white gel pen, stampin' dimensionals (or left-over rubber from cutting out stamps), and glue stick.

First, stamp entire mouse image onto the Rose Red Double-Sided Paper in basic black. Cut this out as your base. I cut a little around the outside of the image to leave the black outline. Then, stamp the mouse image onto the Creamy Caramel Cardstock and cut out the mouse's body. Adhere this to the double-sided paper. Then, stamp the image a third time onto Regal Rose Cardstock. Cut out the mouse's shirt and adhere to the caramel. WHEW! Finally, use the white gel pen to color in the flower in the heart on the Rose Red Double-Sided Paper and also the mouse's collar and belt. Attach mouse to card with stampin' dimensionals (or left-over rubber) to make him stand up off the card.

To all of my family, friends, and customers (I am blessed to say that you probably fall into more than one of these categories!), Merry Christmas! It's been a great day here in Atlanta, my husband's hometown. We've opened presents, ate well, and visited with family. I was touched to receive some special gifts and phone calls that have more value than a price-tag could ever hold. And isn't that our whole point of stamping, scrapbooking, and card-making? It's truly the effort and thought put into a simple gift that makes it so cherished--to give and to receive.
